Rwanda an Alternative Gorilla Safari Destination.
Commonly refered to as "the land of a thousand hills" Rwanda is an alternative gorilla destination. The country is quickly recovering from the 1994 genocide which paralyzed almost all activities in the country. This tiny beautiful now East African country has opened its borders to international travellers who visit the country especially to track the engendered mountain gorillas on the bamboo-covered slopes of the Virunga volcanoes boarding Uganda.
Nyungwe Forest, one of the largest montane forests in the region is famous for its large troops of colobus monkeys and rich variety of orchids. Akagera National Park is a home to elephants, hippos and crocodiles. Inland on Lake Kivu is a large variety of birds. Rwanda is a hilly country with moist, temperatures all year around. It is a country with one of Africa's most amazing cultures.
