TANZANIAN WHITE-WATER RAFTING.
DAY 1: Arrival in Dar-es-salaam.
You will be met by our representative at Dar-es-salaam Airport and checked into your hotel. You will be briefed on your safari itinerary and left to relax. Dinner and overnight at Moevenpick Royal Palm Hotel.
DAY 2: Selous Game Reserve (6-8 hours).
This reserve is the largest unexploited wildlife area in Africa, and the second largest in the world. The Selous Game Reserve was declared a "WORLD HERITAGE SITE" by the United Nations in 1982.
After an early breakfast you will be driven to Selous Game Reserve. A game drive through this reserve present you with rare opportunities to see elephants bathing in the River Rufiji. Tanzania is home to one of the single largest remaining elephant populations in the world. Also to be seen are lions and a vast herd of buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, giraffe, waterbuck, baboon and eland.
There is also an extremely rich birdlife in the park including goliath heron, open billed stork, hammerkop, fish eagle, sunbird, kingfishers and many others.
Dinner and overnight at Sand Rivers Selous.
Day 3: Explore the Rufiji River - the largest river in Tanzania.
After an early breakfast, you will enjoy a morning boat ride, during which you will see crocodiles, schools of hippos and a variety of bird life such as the fish eagle.
Lunch will be at the lodge after which you will drive to Shuguri Falls. From the falls you will proceed to the wildlife rich area around Lakes Tagala, Manze, Siwando and Nzerekera, where you will have another game drive in the late afternoon.
Dinner and overnight at Sand Rivers Selous.
DAYS 4: Water rafting on the River Rufiji.
After an early breakfast you will enjoy white water rafting on the river. You will launch your rafts below the falls and set off downstream. This area is especially rich in bird life such as; fish eagles, herons, Egyptian geese, storks, bee-eaters, kingfishers and many more. We may surprise buffalos and elephants on the river banks quenching their thirst, and compete with hippos for the right-of-way in the water.
You will have a picnic lunch after which you will enjoy an evening walk in the rolling Miombo Woodland. Our expert guides will show you some of the secrets of the bush, in the form of rhino scrapings or leopard tracks and even the medicinal use of trees & plants.
Dinner and overnight at Sand Rivers Selous.
DAY 5: Departure.
A relaxed breakfast followed by a drive back to Dar-es-salaam, arriving in the late evening. Dinner and overnight at Moevenpick Royal Palm Hotel.
