5 DAYS KENYA SAFARI EXPERIENCE:
On this trip you will be taken to the Aberdares at the slopes of Mount Kenya, where you will get a chance to marvel at the beauty of the snow peaked mountain, experience the serenity of a great waterfall and see a wide a variety of wildlife.
You will continue on to the Great Rift Valley where you will see and experience two of the many Great Rift Valley Lakes, Lake Bogoria and Lake Nakuru, here you will have the chance to go on boat rides and indulge in bird watching. You will then visit Lake Nakuru National Park where you will marvel at the resident flamingo birds and view a variety of wildlife including the lion, rhino, monkeys, leopard and giraffes.
Your visit will end at the world renowned Maasai Mara Game reserve, the most visited Game Park in Kenya and which was in November 2008 named the 8th Wonder of the World because of the annual great migration involving an immensity of herbivores, including some 1,300,000 wildebeests, 360,000 Thompson gazelles, and 191 Zebras. These numerous migrants are followed along their annual, circular route by a block of hungry predators, most notably lions and hyena making this annual migration is undoubtedly the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth.
Day 1: Nairobi to the Aberdares.
You will be met by our representatives on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. You will be given a short briefing about your safari and driven to the Aberdares, 100 km north of Nairobi, where you will spend the night at the Tree Tops Hotel, the hotel where Princess Elizabeth became queen of England in 1952. The Tree Tops hotel provides excellent night time wild life viewing from the hotel balcony from where visitors will observe various animals including lions, elephants, buffalos and rhino which come to drink water at the waterhole built at the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the Tree Tops Hotel.
Day 2: Explore the Aberdares.
Early morning game drives in the park. Animals to be seen include the lion, leopard, baboon, black rhino and elephants. A quick breakfast back at the lodge followed by a visit to the Gura Waterfalls, the most prestigious waterfall in Kenya followed by a visit to the Queen's cave pavilion, the site for the 1959 royal picnic lunch for Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip.
Optional; Visitors can also indulge in walking, picnics, trout fishing in the rivers and bird watching. Dinner and overnight at the Tree Tops Hotel.
Day 3: The Great Rift Valley and the Lake Nakuru National Park.
Breakfast followed by a drive across the Great Rift Valley. You will see picturesque views of gorges, lakes and volcanic mountains. You will have lunch by Lake Baringo, followed by a boat trip across the lake to see the birdlife, crocodiles and hippos. Other activities in the area include fishing and water sports. There is also a snake park in the area where you can have a closer look at the reptiles.
Afternoon drive to the Lake Nakuru. The lake is home to millions of fuchsia pink flamingos and fish eating pelicans as well as over 450 other species of birds. In the late afternoon you will be taken on a game drive in the Nakuru National Park. This is the second most visited park in Kenya and wildlife you will see here include the black rhino, the lion, the waterbuck and antelopes. It is one of the best places to see the leopard as well as the endangered Rothschild giraffe.
Dinner and overnight at the Lake Nakuru Lodge.
Day 4: The Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
Drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to the World renowned Maasai Mara Game Reserve. You will have your lunch at the Mara Serena Lodge, followed by an evening game drive. The Mara is a resting place for the "Big 5", so be prepared to see a wide variety animals here. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Lodge.
The Maasai Mara was in November 2008 named the 8th wonder of the world because of the annual migration of zebra, Thompson's gazelle and the wildebeest from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara, every year from July to October, a migration so immense it's called the Great Migration. The National Reserve was also the shooting location for the OUT OF AFRICA film and remains the location for the British Broadcasting Corporation's Big Cat Diary wildlife series. The Mara is also a resting place for the "Big 5".
Day 5: Depart for Nairobi.
You will have an early breakfast followed by an early morning game drive in the reserve, after which you will depart for Nairobi arriving in the late evening. Meals and overnight at the Sarova Stanley Hotel.
